Our Story

Skiing for all

We have a rich history here at The Swedish Ski Club which has almost 95 years of existence. On January 25, 1924 the first meeting took place. On January 28th, it was decided that the name of the new club should e Swedish Ski Club of New York. On February 4, 1924, the Swedish Ski Club was officially formed at a meeting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Siegfried L. Steinwall, 103 Mercer Street, Jersey City, New Jersey.

Thus, Sigge Steinwall was the founder and became the first elected president of the Swedish Ski Club. The Club adopted the slogan: “Skiing for all.”
